Empowering Marin's Seniors with Better Mobility & Access
We are a community group dedicated to helping seniors in Marin County and their local leaders get on board with the future of mobility. We want to introduce seniors to self-driving technology and ensure that each journey in an autonomous vehicle or (supervised) full-self driving car, feels comfortable, safe, and senior-ready.
Our Mission
ReadySet2Go is in lockstep with new technology and how it can serve the mobility needs of older people:
(1) We introduce the senior population of Marin County to autonomous vehicles and (supervised) full self driving cars (2) We educate, in order to break down barriers to acceptance and (3) We help organizations, including local government, transit providers, and service agencies understand how this technology can serve the mobility needs of older people.
This is What We Do...How We Roll
ReadySet2Go organizes trips for seniors to experience (supervised) self-driving vehicles and autonomous cars. We have outings on a regular basis. For most seniors, direct experience brings an "aha" moment.ReadySet2Go organizes information and resources from other communities and mobility trials, with an emphasis on the senior population. This means not reinventing the wheel with each new community project and trial.ReadySet2Go conducts research with seniors who try out the technology, both before and after their trip taking. We also collect information from those who do not want to join in. Since the technology is evolving, we believe that the ride is smoother when mobility providers and seniors learn from each other and have regular dialogue.ReadySet2Go explores how this new mobility can enhance and accelerate existing mobility programs programs offered in the community.
Why We Are in Marin County First:
Marin County has eldest population in California
Many homes are difficult to reach by public transit and do not have regular service.
Sidewalks can be few and far between.
It is difficult to age-in-place in Marin when you are less able to drive because of the terrain and geography.
ReadySet2Ride has a Vision for Marin
Advocate on behalf of older people about FSD and Autonomous driving
Bring the technology to Marin, in a way that is controlled and safe for older people
Evaluate how cities and towns of Marin, plus public transit, can integrate this option to serve more people
